One of the highlights of KnowCLT is the immersive GPS-based experience of Charlotte's Brooklyn neighborhood. Brooklyn was once the largest and most vibrant Black community in the Carolinas, and the app allows you to delve into its fascinating history either on foot in Second Ward or from the comfort of your own home.

The experience of Brooklyn's history is brought to life through narration, photos, poetry, and the voices of former residents. When exploring on foot, you have the freedom to choose your own path and visit seven historic sites that are augmented reality-enhanced. For example, did you know that Brooklyn was home to Charlotte's first public library for Black Charlotteans? By holding your phone up to the site where the library once stood, you can see Brevard Street Library appear on your screen, as it once was.
